In case you’ve forgotten, here’s how it went down in episode 11:
This was already one of the best scenes in Gurren Lagann but the way they’ve condensed it and animated it for the movie sends shivers up my spine. I absolutely love the extreme close up on his sketchy face during his speech. I just wish I could see this in theaters because I know that my computer screen can’t really do it justice.
Speaking of doing things justice, I haven’t been regularly watching the dub on Sci Fi but I did catch the final episodes on Monday. The dub was surprisingly well done but I still still think the Japanese VAs are on the whole much better. Although I’m undoubtedly biased since to me they are the characters’ voices.
I can’t really complain about the dub but I can complain about the way Sci Fi aired it. I can handle the fact that they sped up the OP/ED and cut some things (usually minor reaction shots) to make it fit in the time slot. However they nearly ruined the viewing experience with horribly placed commercials which seemed to crop up right in the middle of the most emotional scenes.

During episode 27, in what is arguably one of the most important scenes in the entire show, it went like this: LAGAAAAANNNNNNNN IMPAAAAAAAAAACTTT BUY QUIZNO’S ONLY $3.99. And don’t even get me started on how they ruined Kittan’s scene in episode 25 by cutting immediately to commercial.
Ah well, I just hope that anyone who saw Gurren Lagann for the first time on Sci Fi and was impressed by it will watch the DVDs to get the full experience.
I want this… very much! I’ve posted on anime/otaku’s comments section that if I get to retire early I want to work as a dubber here in the Philippines. Kamina would be my dream role.

That would be pretty great. Better start practicing your giga drill break-ing now and if you ever land the role you better tell me so I can buy a copy.
MUST… FLY… TO… JAPAN… FOR… MOVIE!!!
Must. Go. To. Japan. Too.
ô, the english dub kept happy ever after.
that’s a good thing, because the song have a good emotional impact on this scene.
This is fricken AWESOME!!! God I hope if they dub this (Plus it’s sequal) they don’t ruin it, I mean I know Yuri Lowenthal [for those who don't know he's Simon's voice, both young and 7 year skip] (If recast) and Johnny Young Bosch [Rossiu's both young and 7 year skip](again if recast) will give it their all but I hope everyone else does their job perfect also.
I liked the dubbing, nor just cuz i’m a Yuri Lowenthal or Johnny Bosch fan but because I think the cast was good, though I have to agree that the Seiyuu cast outmatched the VA cast in all way’s.
